Pride Picnic And BBQ

Our main event for 2007 was held during the afternoon of Saturday 8th September at the Community Safety Village, within Bruce's Mill Conservation Area near Stouffville.

The Community Safety Village, located in the heart of the conservation area. is a York Regional Police facility used to teach fire, traffic and personal safety to primary school children.

LGBTQ2 community members were not the only ones to attend our picnic/bbq. An event survey revealed that 40% of our 100+ attendees were accompanied by family members and that 23% of attendees identified as heterosexual.

During the event, welcoming greetings from York Regional Police were delivered by Chief Armand La Barge, and our keynote speaker, Rachel Epstein spoke on the topic of LGBT parenting.

In addition, live music entertainment was provided by Jamie Miller and Craig Riley, as well as Kim Brown.
A community fair featured a selection of community organizations and offered information on a range of LGBT related topics.
